Welcome to Lutheran Chapel

A Legacy of Faith, Worship, and Service

Since its humble beginnings as a small log chapel in 1828, Lutheran Chapel has been a faithful witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Gastonia community. As one of the area’s oldest Lutheran congregations, we give thanks for God’s abundant blessings and His steadfast guidance through nearly two centuries of worship, Christian education, fellowship, and service.

As our congregation has grown, so too has our commitment to sharing Christ’s love. The original log chapel gave way to a brick church in 1872, followed by the construction of our present Sanctuary in 1923. An Education Building was added in 1957 to support the growing ministry of Christian education, and in 2000 a Family Life Center expanded opportunities for fellowship, outreach, preschool ministry, community gatherings, and recreational activities. Throughout our history, faithful members have generously supported the care and enhancement of our campus, including the installation of our pipe organ, creating spaces that glorify God and serve His people.

Our history is not measured only by buildings, but by lives transformed through the grace of God. Lutheran Chapel has long been committed to serving our neighbors with compassion, offering hope through ministries that care for those experiencing hardship, hunger, loneliness, and other challenges. Together, we seek to be the hands and feet of Christ by sharing His love within our congregation, throughout our community, and beyond.

Rooted in God’s Word, strengthened by the Sacraments, and inspired by the hope of the risen Christ, Lutheran Chapel continues to grow in faith, serve with joy, and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to future generations. We invite you to join us as we worship, learn, serve, and celebrate the abundant life we have in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
