Word for the Week – Fifth Sunday after Epiphany, 02/05/2012
Jesus heals Simon Peter’s mother-in-law. Mark 1:29-39 The Challenge For Us From the Word Continues: Last week before Friend Sunday, February 12: which friend, relative, neighbor or associate may you invite? Christ creates faith yet He commands us to share our faith and invite others. May each one reach one for Christ (re: 1 Corinthians 9:19-23)! The Law in God’s Word reveals our sin: Defeat, failure, sickness, all seem to be the inescapable human condition and it makes me want to just give up! The Gospel in God’s Word saves us in Jesus the Christ: The power of Jesus calls for me not to give up but to patiently endure and serve others trusting that what looks like defeat faithfulness to Him will turn to victory. |
